Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef or lamb
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 lbs Yukon Gold or Russet potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • ½ cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet, sauté onions until translucent. Add garlic and cook briefly.
  3. Add ground meat and brown thoroughly; drain excess fat if needed.
  4. Stir in carrots and frozen peas. Mix in Worcestershire sauce and beef broth; simmer for 5-10 minutes until thickened.
  5. Boil peeled and cubed potatoes until fork-tender (15-20 minutes). Drain and mash with butter, milk, salt, and pepper.
  6. Spread the meat mixture in a baking dish and top with mashed potatoes. Smooth the surface.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.
