  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup diced bell peppers
  • 1 cup finely chopped onion
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with nonstick spray.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté onions and bell peppers until softened (about 5 minutes).
  3. Add ground beef to the skillet, browning it while breaking it into smaller pieces. Drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in marinara sauce and Italian seasoning; simmer for 5 minutes to blend flavors.
  5. Cook penne pasta according to package directions until al dente; drain without rinsing.
  6. Combine cooked pasta with meat-sauce mixture and half of the mozzarella cheese in a large bowl, mixing well.
  7. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish, top with remaining mozzarella and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
