  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 1 medium bell pepper (red or green), diced
  • 1 cup ketchup (preferably organic)
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp mustard (yellow or Dijon)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 soft hamburger buns

Instructions

  1. Sauté diced onion and bell pepper in olive oil over medium heat until softened, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula (7-10 minutes).
  3. Drain excess fat if necessary, then stir in ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, salt, and pepper. Cook on low for 5 minutes.
  4. Simmer the mixture for 10 minutes until thickened.
  5. Serve the Sloppy Joe mixture generously on toasted buns with pickles or chips.
